Settat police arrest father suspected of assaulting minor son

Officers from the Settat Police Prefecture arrested a repeat offender on Sunday on suspicion of physically assaulting his minor son.

According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), police acted after media reports alleged that a 42-year-old man had physically abused a child in the city of Ben Ahmed. Investigators identified the suspect, believed to be the boy’s father, and arrested him in Settat.

The suspect is currently the subject of a judicial investigation aimed at establishing the full circumstances surrounding the alleged acts.

The 9-year-old victim is receiving the necessary medical and psychological care, the DGSN added.
