Moroccan broadcaster MEDI1TV has obtained official authorization to broadcast its programs in Mali under an agreement signed with the country’s High Authority for Communication (HAC), according to a press release issued on June 5.

The agreement allows the establishment, operation and distribution of MEDI1TV’s content across Malian territory and marks a new step in the channel’s expansion across Africa. According to the press release, the deal reflects a shared commitment to promoting sovereign and open coverage of African realities and developments.

Already present in Mali through Radio Méditerranée Internationale (Medi 1), which has been broadcasting in FM in Bamako for several years, MEDI1TV said the move strengthens its long-term commitment to fostering dialogue, knowledge-sharing and closer ties between African peoples.

The news channel pledged to uphold principles of ethics, journalistic rigor, balanced reporting and respect for Malian regulations. It also announced plans to deepen cooperation with Malian audiovisual stakeholders through expertise-sharing, training and digital innovation initiatives.

Describing itself as «an African channel for Africans», MEDI1TV said its editorial identity is built on rigorous coverage of African affairs, balanced reporting on the continent’s geopolitical and economic challenges, and the promotion of development initiatives and social, economic and cultural dynamics across Africa.

The agreement also reflects the trust established between MEDI1TV and Mali’s media regulator and highlights the strength of cooperation between Morocco and Mali, as well as their shared ambition to support the development of a modern, professional and internationally connected African media space, the press release added.
