Moroccan referee Jalal Jayed will take charge this Sunday in Houston of the match between Germany and Curaçao, part of the opening round of fixtures in Group E at the 2026 World Cup.

The appointment marks an important milestone in the Moroccan official’s career, as he makes his debut as the main referee in the final stage of a World Cup. He will be assisted by his compatriots Zakaria Brinsi and Mostafa Akarkad, while South Africa’s Abongile Tom will serve as the fourth official.

The fixture is also historic for Curaçao, which is taking part in a World Cup for the first time in its history. The Caribbean side will begin its global campaign against Germany, one of the most prestigious nations in international football.

The match opens the tournament journey for both teams in a Group E that also includes Côte d’Ivoire and Ecuador.
