The body of a young man was washed ashore by the sea on Sunday at Bades Beach in Al Hoceima province. He is believed to have been among a group of would-be irregular migrants.
According to local media reports, the victim was part of a group of around 140 young men intercepted by Royal Gendarmerie officers, in coordination with the Auxiliary Forces, during a security operation carried out on the evening of June 11 at the same beach to prevent an attempted irregular migration crossing.
Following the necessary on-site procedures and inspections, the body was transferred to the morgue of Mohammed VI Provincial Hospital in the commune of Ait Youssef Ou Ali.
The competent public prosecutor's office has ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
