Tangier is set to host the 8th World Congress of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) from June 22 to 25, 2026, under the theme «A new generation of inclusive local public services».
The event is expected to draw over 3,000 participants, including ministers, local officials, and experts in territorial governance. Key discussions will focus on sustainable urban transition, climate resilience, innovation in local public services, territorial financing, and digital transformation.
The congress will also highlight the renewal of the organization’s governing bodies and the adoption of new strategic priorities for the post-2030 era.
This marks the second time Morocco will host the event, following the 4th UCLG World Summit in Rabat in 2013.
Additionally, Tangier will host the General Assembly of METROPOLIS on June 26, an international network comprising over 160 local and metropolitan governments worldwide.
