Amid growing tensions over public aid to livestock farmers, Aziz Akhannouch convened the secretaries-general of Istiqlal, PAM, and RNI on Tuesday. These parties have formed the governing coalition since October 2021.
In the meeting, the head of government pressed representatives from the Balance and Tractor parties to adhere to the commitments outlined in the majority pact, emphasizing the need for synchronized efforts among the three coalition partners.
This gathering followed a move by the PAM and Istiqlal parliamentary groups in the House of Councillors, who supported an opposition request to establish a parliamentary commission of inquiry into the public aid provided to livestock farmers by the Akhannouch administration.
The RNI, however, opposes this request. In a statement released on Tuesday, the RNI parliamentary group argued that the initiative «faces an objective time constraint: with only a few weeks left in the legislative term, (...) it risks sparking unproductive political maneuvering».
Further, the group stated that «invoking this mechanism under the current circumstances lacks the necessary justifications typically required for such oversight functions».
