A scorching heatwave accompanied by strong winds is forecasted to hit several Moroccan provinces from Saturday to Wednesday, according to an orange-level weather alert from the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM).
With temperatures ranging between 43 and 46°C, the heatwave will impact the provinces of Sidi Slimane, El Kelaâ des Sraghna, Marrakech, Rehamna, Khémisset, Youssoufia, Fquih Ben Salah, Aousserd, Kénitra, Sidi Kacem, Settat, Chichaoua, Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Taroudant, Tata, Zagora, and Béni Mellal.
During the same period, temperatures between 40 and 43°C are expected in the provinces of Larache, Ouazzane, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Tiznit, Guelmim, Meknes, Taounate, Khouribga, Sefrou, Tinghir, Errachidia, Taza, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Benslimane, Berrechid, Essaouira, Médiouna, Nouaceur, Sidi Bennour, Safi, El Hajeb, Khénifra, Fez, and Moulay Yaâcoub.
On Saturday and Sunday, temperatures ranging from 33 to 38°C will affect the provinces of Skhirat-Témara, Casablanca, Mohammedia, Rabat, Salé, El Jadida, and Ifrane. Inland temperatures of 41 to 44°C are anticipated in the provinces of Tan-Tan, Tarfaya, and Laâyoune from Sunday to Wednesday, according to the DGM.
Additionally, strong winds reaching 75 to 85 km/h are expected this Saturday until 11 p.m. in the provinces of Tangier-Assilah and Fahs-Anjra.
