Arab countries voiced strong support for Morocco on Monday after the kingdom's security services announced they had foiled what they described as «extremely dangerous» terrorist plots aimed at targeting public order, as well as the safety of people and property. Authorities said the plans had been coordinated with logistical and operational support from ISIS's Sahel branch.
Qatar condemned the attempted attacks, with its Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirming the country's firm rejection of terrorism in all its forms and expressing full solidarity with Morocco. Doha also voiced its support for the measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its security and stability.
The United Arab Emirates also denounced the foiled plots. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, reaffirmed the UAE's support for Morocco's efforts to protect its security and stability, ensure the safety of its citizens and residents, and preserve its achievements. He also praised the professionalism and vigilance of Morocco's security services in preventing the attacks and identifying those involved.
Jordan likewise condemned the plots, describing them as an unacceptable attempt to undermine Morocco's security, sovereignty and stability. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates reiterated Jordan's full support for the Kingdom and the measures it is taking to protect its national security.
The Arab Parliament also condemned the attempted attacks. Its president, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, praised Morocco's security services for thwarting the plots and identifying those responsible, commending what he described as their professionalism and vigilance.
