Morocco's Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports has denied statements circulating on social media and in several media outlets that were falsely attributed to Minister Mohamed Saad Berrada. The ministry described the claims as «entirely false and unfounded».
The fabricated quotes alleged that «Morocco does not represent Africa», that «the national football team represents only Morocco, not Africa», and that «Morocco does not need Africa's support».

In a statement, Wednesday, the ministry stressed that the minister «has made no statement to any media outlet» on the matter. It added that the comments being circulated «in no way reflect either his position or the official position of the Kingdom of Morocco».
The ministry also reaffirmed that «the Kingdom of Morocco is proud of its African identity». It said the country's historical, human, and cultural ties with the rest of Africa remain «a fundamental pillar» of Morocco's policy under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.
Finally, it urged media outlets and social media users to verify information before sharing it, warning that the minister reserves the right to take legal action against anyone who falsely attributes statements to him or spreads misinformation.
