A major fire that swept through the oasis of Oufouss, in Morocco's Errachidia province, destroyed more than 1,000 palm trees, including 600 that were completely burned, according to 2M on Saturday.
More than 180 personnel, including members of the Civil Protection, local authorities, the Royal Gendarmerie, the National Agency for Water and Forests, auxiliary forces and local residents, took part in firefighting operations that continued until late to bring the blaze under control.

According to 2M, strong winds fueled the fire, which also damaged irrigation infrastructure, including traditional water channels. Authorities have maintained surveillance operations to prevent the blaze from reigniting and have opened an investigation to determine its cause.
