For Reda Houdaifa reading a book is a journey, a trip that doesn’t require a visa. It is an adventure that can take unexpected forms depending on the writer’s mood. The 21 year old guy’s love for literature and books started when his father passed away a few years ago, it was a significant moment when he had to decide what he wanted to be called in this world of titles. And he chose to be a lover of books, eventually a distinguished writer. In 2015 Reda joined the University of Hassan II of literature and human sciences in Casablanca and attended his first French department’s classes "it was breath taking at first for I wanted to know it all and started reading every book I had”, declared Reda with a big smile on the face.

Fortunate Reda, grew in a house where books were of a great value, son of a journalist, he inherited his father’s manners towards the world of books and literature. “As a kid my parents asked me to clean the office, rearrange the library and dust the books”, says Reda, no doubt that he developed an intimate relationship with books and started reading what they carry inside.

Never judge a book by its cover

Never judge a book by its cover, Reda never did that but on the contrary tried to discover what each book had to share with this world. His admiration for reading is not just a habit it is now a part time job that Reda goes to everyday with a banana smile. He works at Le Fennec publishing house; he collects books, helps with organizing the archives and keeps an eye on the house’s official page on facebook. It is a job that Reda describes as perfect because it allows him to maintain his relationship with books and gives him the opportunity of meeting all his Moroccan favorite writers.

Visiting his room, also nicknamed as the paradise of books, Reda showed me all his quick to enjoyable reads, a very private sanctuary where he puts books on shelves, in piles on the ground ; on his wooden disk and on a dressing table. To carry on with his authenticity he created “LES ETOILES”, a website blog that contains Reda's own articles about life, women and society, a window through which he shows off his linguistic stamina and writes freely about books he liked or disliked.

Asked about his future, Reda with a happy yet very enthusiastic face replied : “I would like to be a writer, to write about women and translate the poetry of life.” For a youngster, Reda had the right path to start with.
