The US government announced yesterday, Tuesday, the ban of laptop computers and tablets on flights coming from 10 countries. The decision includes Morocco along with other North African and Middle-Eastern countries.

According to the New York Times, two senior American Counterterrorism officials have claimed that «the Islamic state is developing a bomb hidden in portable electronics». They have made it clear to the American daily newspaper that the decision was taken to prevent passengers from «10 Muslim-majority countries from carrying laptop computers, iPads and other devices larger than a cell phone».

The same security measure was taken later that Tuesday by the UK authorities. The European country declared that passengers from six Arab countries are not allowed to carry electronic devices on flights. Morocco is not featured among the banned countries by the UK, however, Tunisia, Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia have made it to the list.

The banning decision goes along with the restricted policy that is adopted by Donald Trump. The US president has translated his anti-immigration policy through the travel ban list in which he bars citizens of six-Muslim countries from entering the United States.
