The Secretary General of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Hicham El Amrani has announced his resignation on Sunday the 26th of March. The 38 year-old who served for 6 years as the Secretary General of the continental body, declared yesterday in a resignation letter that he was leaving his position. El Amrani wrote in a letter sent to all federations across Africa :
«It is with great regret that I hereby inform you that I am leaving today my position of CAF Secretary GCAFeneral, after eight years spent within the CAF confederation.These last eight years have been wonderful, enriching and well provided with life-lasting memories. The CAF will always remain part of my heart, and African football will always be dear to me.»
Born in Casablanca, El Amrani succeeded the Egyptian Mustapha Fahmy former Secretary General of the Confederation, and replaced him in September 2011. He had previously worked in the Asian Football Confederation.
El Amrani's resignation came after the Egyptian Ahmed Ahmed got elected President of the CAF replacing Issa Hayatou.
