The transformation of the old Museum of archeology continues with a major and complete renovation plan. Known now as the museum of History and Civilization, the gallery will open its gates to the public today 12th of April according to a communiqué that was sent to Yabiladi.

The museum went through 12 months of renovation that were paid for by the National Foundation of Museums, the organization that targets the preservation and enrichment of «the Moroccan museum heritage with the aim of making it shine on the national and international level», indicates the communiqué. «It focuses on democratizing the access of culture and pushing citizens, particularly the youth, to discover their heritage and history», added the same source.

Created in 2011, the foundation has restored in 2017 the Kasbah museum of Mediterranean cultures in Tangier. This year several transformation plans will be carried, such as the refurbishment of Al Batha museum in Fez that houses an excellent collection of Islamic art and the National ceramics Museum in Safi.

Guests and visitors will be able to enjoy the beauty of the History and Civilization Museum from 10 am to 6 pm and from Wednesday to Monday. Tickets vary from 20 dirhams for adults, 10 dirhams for young people aged between 15 and 18 and 5 dirhams for kids under 14 or groups of pupils. Students will qualify for a 50% discount on the regular adult fare.
