Mohammed VI International Karate cup : 4 gold medals for Morocco

Egypt dominated the 13th edition of Mohammed VI International Karate cup, organized from the 14th to the 16th of April in Rabat as one of the five competitions held by the Karate 1-Premier League.

Egypt won 5 gold medals, a silver one and two bronze pieces. Morocco was ranked second with a score of 4 gold, one silver and 8 bronze medals. Najla Karchali was awarded the gold medal for the Kata-2 selection while Mohamed El Hanni received the same metal award for the male kata selection.

The silver medal was taken by Belkacem (in the kata section) and the bronze ones were won by Sadini Btissam (kumité section/-61 kg), Fatima Ezzahra Errabi (kumité section/-67 kg), Adnane El Hakimi (kata section), Aymane Takzima (kumité section/-60 kg), Zakaria Ayoub (kumité section/-67 kg), Ahmed Hammi (kumité section/-75 kg), and Achraf Ouchen (kumité section/84+ kg).

Italy came third with 2 gold and 2 bronze medals followed by Azerbaidjan 4th with two gold medals. Slovakia was 5th bringing home only one golden medal.

This year’s edition brought together 547 participants from all over the world. The Karate 1-Premier League, which has been operating since 2011 organizing only 2 tournaments in Paris and Istanbul, now includes five events namely : The Paris Open (27-29 January), Rotterdam Open (17-19 March), Dubai Open (31 March - 2 April) Mohammed VI International cup and the Open Halle in Leipzig Germany.
