Women’s Association for Rural Development and the American Initiative for Partnership with the Middle East (MEPI), have worked together to help 100 women entrepreneurs in rural areas acquire a set of capacities and skills through a project entitled «Empowering Women in the Atlas». The closing ceremony of the program will be organized on Saturday 13th May in Ifran, a communiqué sent to Yabiladi by the Foundation reports.

«We are very proud to have successfully completed this project through which we confirmed the existence and impact of women leaders in the rural world and worked for about a year to give them the material and immaterial means to have a greater impact on their territories», said Lamia Bazir, founder and president of the Women’s Association for Rural Development.

The project that was first initiated in September 2016 managed to «broke the isolation of 100 women from the Middle Atlas Mountains, and enabled them to access the university for the first time in their lives.»

«The training sessions focused on key themes for rural women at the head of cooperatives, such as Project management, accounting, communication, marketing, and environmental protection, all in Tamazight and the Moroccan dialect», the same source indicates

The closing ceremony will be held at the University of Al Akhawayn in Ifran and will be attended by regional and national personalities as well as representatives from the U.S. Embassy and the rural women who have benefited from the program.
