The US State Department has denounced «‎the destabilizing nature of Iran's activities, including Iran's support for Hezbollah and other terrorist groups», reported Tuesday MAP.

Washington raised concerns about Tehran’s activities supporting Morocco’s decision to sever ties with the country, in a statement relayed by the Moroccan news agency.

Iran denied Rabat’s accusations on Monday in the person of its Foreign Affairs spokesman. The official said that Morocco’s decision to severe diplomatic relations with his country came under the influence of Saudi Arabia.

Morocco has decided to sever relations with Iran due to the military support provided by its Shiite ally Hezbollah movement to the Polisario, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita, said on the 1st of May. The Kingdom said it has generated irrefutable proof, backing its stance.

Iran «remains a designated State Sponsor of Terror and Hezbollah remains a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization», added the US State Department.

«The United States seeks our partners’ support to neutralize Iran’s destabilizing influence, constrain its aggression -- particularly its support for terrorism and militants -- and restore a more stable balance of power», the same source pointed out.

Washington’s measured reaction

It is clear that the American diplomacy has avoided mentioning the collusion between Hezbollah and the Polisario, preferring to focus on the arguments that essentially serve US policy towards Iran.

The US’ reaction comes as President Donald Trump declared Tuesday that the country is withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal, reached by seven countries and signed on the 14th of July 2015 in the Austrian capital.

Alongside, the United Sates, Morocco has received the support of the Gulf countries. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates did not hesitate in backing Rabat’s decision, denouncing Tehran’s interference in Morocco’s domestic affairs.
