In December, 11-year-old Idder Moutii made headlines for being the youngest English-speaking programmer in Morocco. He participated to the DevFest Festival, held in Agadir on the 9th and 8th of December at the Ecole National des Sciences Appliquées by GDG.

The self-taught programmer who is fluent in English, participated to a coding and debugging workshop. On Friday, he was invited, alongside Mariam Amjoun who won the 2018 Arab Reading Challenge in Dubai, to a weekly show called RachidShow and broadcast on Moroccan TV channel 2M.

His appearance at RachidShow was highly criticized by internet users. On a girls-only Facebook group, Idder Moutii was slammed for his way of speaking.

Some of these internet users have even called him a «weirdo», while others mocked his accents and Amazigh origins. These racist and hateful comments were denounced by other internet users.
