An Italian woman stabbed by three men in Rabat

A 23-year-old Italian woman was recently attacked in Rabat as she was returning home after a night out with her friends, reports Italian newspapers Il Corriere Della Sera.

The young woman, who had just celebrated her birthday with her family, was stabbed by three men. When she got out of the taxi, at around 1 am, a few meters away from her front door, she was stopped by three men who tried take off her pants.

Trying to defend herself, she managed to escape before one of the three men stabbed her four times in the leg. A neighbor was able to help her and she was later taken to the hospital.

The police are trying to identify the three men with the help of CCTV images. The attack is being treated as an attempt to rape the woman, as the three men did not try to steal her belongings.

The victim is a student from the province of Bologna, who graduated from the University of Bologna. She was doing an internship at the Italian Embassy in Rabat, where she had been assigned by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the same source concludes.
