Faycal, Bettioui, 36, is the first Moroccan chef to receive a Michelin start in Germany, reports French-language online newspaper Le 360.

The Michelin star revelations ceremony for 2019 took place on Tuesday, February the 28th. Before he settled down in Germany, Faycal Bettioui had worked in Miami, where he run two restaurants, the same source says.

The Casablanca-native opted for computer engineering at the beginning of his career, before studying dentistry. While preparing for his bachelor's degree in biology at the Florida International University, he made the choice to devote himself to his passion for cooking.

He moved to Germany in September 2015. There, he took the helm of one of the oldest gourmet restaurants in the city, the Zur Krone.
