Following the terrorist attack killed 49 Muslim worshippers and injured 20 others in New Zealand, Australian Senator Fraser Anning linked Muslim immigration to the terror act in a letter he shared on social media.

Commenting on the New Zealand mosque shooting, the senator said that he is «utterly opposed to any form of violence within [his] community and {he] totally condemns the actions of the gunman».

However, Anning put the blame on the Muslim community, when referring to violence in both New Zealand and Australia.

«Whilst this kind of violent vigilantism can never be justified, what it highlights is the growing fear within our community of the increasing Muslim presence», Anning said.

The senator explained in his «victim-blaming letter» that «the real cause of bloodshed in New Zealand streets today is the immigration program which allowed Muslim fanatics to immigrate to New Zealand in the first place».

Replying to the Australian senator’s letter, the Australian Prime Minister tweeted saying that «Anning's comments had no place in Australia and definitely not the parliament», reports the Sunday Morning Herald.

«The remarks by Senator Fraser Anning blaming the murderous attacks by a violent, right-wing, extremist terrorist in New Zealand on immigration are disgusting», Mr Morrison said, adding that «those views have no place in Australia, let alone the Australian Parliament».

For the record, an Australian gunman opened fire, Friday, on Muslim worshippers at two mosques in Christchurcher, a city in New Zealand.

The man, who was arrested by the police on the same day of the attack, killed at least 49 people and injured more than 20 people.
