Morocco recuses 21 migrants and survivors say 45 have died

Spanish NGO Caminando Fronteras (Walking Borders) reported, Thursday, that 45 migrants died while trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea, while 21 others were rescued by the Moroccan authorities.

According to the Associated Press, 13 women were among the survivors. Quoting the spokesperson of the NGO Helena Maleno, the agency wrote that «there was also one young girl, between 12 and 14 years old, who didn’t survive».

Speaking to the American news agency, a Moroccan official from the Royal Navy said that the Kingdom managed to rescue 21 migrants, one day after their boat sunk.

According to the same source, only one body was recovered, stressing that he «was unaware of the total number of dead».

The Moroccan official reported that all of these migrants are from sub-Saharan Africa and that they were rescued near Nador.
