On Sunday, March 18th, a moment of reflection has been observed in Casablanca to remember the victims of the terrorist attack that targeted two mosques in the city of Christchurch, New Zealand.
Associative actors, activists and citizens responded to the call made by a number of NGOs, gathering to pay tribute to the people who lost their lives in the terror attack that took place on May the 16th, 2003, in Casablanca.
Dozens of participants held flowers and candles in the memory of the victims who died on Friday.
The president of the Association Marocains Pluriels, Ahmed Ghayet, explained to MAP news agency that the participants represent the «Moroccan society which has condemned terrorism and barbarism».
«Fifty Muslims, including children, were killed in New Zealand, elsewhere Jewish graves are desecrated, in fact terrorism has no color, no religion, no passport», he argued.
This action aims at «showing support for the New Zealand people», the same source said. Meanwhile, the President of the Moroccan Association of Victims of Terrorism Souad Bakdouri Al Khamal said that the participants were there to condemn terrorism.
She hoped that the international community would take tougher decisions against the bearers of extremist ideas, because it was hatred and racism that motivated this act.
