Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini announced, Wednesday, that immigrant children, including a Moroccan student, will be granted Italian citizenship, after they helped save their classmates in a hijacked school bus, AFP and the Local report.

These students will have to wait until they are 18 to apply like «anyone else», the same source said, quoting Salvini.

«If there are children who are not Italian citizens, we have studied this question and we will complete the process so that they can become Italian», Salvini said the day he received the children in question.

13-year-old Adam, a student born in Italy to Moroccan parents, is among these children who were commended for their fearless act. In fact, Adam managed to call the police when a Senegalese driver hijacked the school bus and put it on fire. The list includes Egyptian 14-year-old Ramy.
