Moroccan energy firm Neo Themis signed a partnership agreement with Nigeria’s Kingline Development to build a $600 million gas-fired power plant in Akure, Nigeria.

The project is going to include «one of the world’s lowest cost gas-to-power facilities», Global Construction Review reports.

«Kingline offers compelling advantages for the Federal Government of Nigeria given its extremely competitive pricing, availability of peripheral gas and transmission infrastructure, timing to operation and technical flexibility», Tas Anvaripour chief executive of the Casablanca-based Neo Themis announced.

The project is expected to be operational by the end of 2022. It will include «a 550MW combined-cycle powerhouse, a substation, a desalination facility and transmission infrastructure», the same source said.

The plant will be funded by Denham Capital, an energy and resources private equity firm investing in oil and gas, power and mining with offices in Houston, London, Boston, and Perth.
