Once again, Dutch MPs are asking Foreign Affairs Minister Stef Blok to react to the situation of Hirak detainees in Morocco. After the Casablanca Appeals court upheld the sentences against Nasser Zefzafi and other Hirak activists, MPs from the Labor Party sent questions related to the subject to the Dutch Foreign Affairs Minister, Dalil Rif reports.

Dutch MPs asked the Minister about his next step, regarding the sentences handed down to Hirak activists, urging him to summon Morocco's ambassador to the Netherlands.

For the record, Blok rejected, in March, a similar request submitted by some Dutch MPs who wanted to protest against the expulsion of a Dutch journalist from Morocco.

The Hirak movement has affected diplomatic relations between Morocco and the Netherlands. In September 2018, Blok presented a report in the Dutch parliament about protests in Morocco. He denounced in his report «the heavy sentences handed down» to Hirak detainees.

The report was transferred to the Moroccan Foreign Ministry, which decided to summon Morocco’s ambassador to Netherlands.
