The State Security Service in Belgium revealed that the country is home to around 100 Salafist organizations, established through mosques and religious centers.
Indeed, the Belgian intelligence and security agency said that it has identified «worrying signs» within these organizations, such as Salafist imams preaching in mosques, Salafist-led directors who fund these institutions through entities linked to the Salafist movement.
Replying to a parliamentary question addressed to the Minister of Justice Koen Geens, the State Security Service indicated that «groups and initiatives related to Salafism have increased».
The agency stressed that «the spread of Salafist content on social media offers more visibility to this movement».
