Canadian global automotive supplier Magna is expanding its presence in Morocco, building a new facility in Kenitra to «supply global automakers with exterior and interior mirror systems», Nasdaq reports.

The new plant is a 61,400-square-foot facility which required a total investment of $11.3 million by Magna. The new plant, which will be operational in 2020, would provide more than 275 job opportunities.

«Expanding into Morocco is a strategic move for Magna, as our customers continue to grow in the region», president of Magna Mechatronics, Mirrors and Lighting John O'Hara said.

«We also value the high level of skilled employees and engineering talent in the region, and we look forward to building a strong and capable team», he added.

Indeed, through this new facility Magna would be expanding its presence in North Africa as the Canadian firm had another plant in the Kingdom. In October 2018, it created a joint venture in Casablanca with Altran Technologies SA.

Headquartered in Aurora, Ontario, Magna is one of the largest automobile parts manufacturers in North America and one of Canada’s biggest companies.
