One person was killed and three others were injured in Sand Diego (United States), Saturday morning, after a man opened fire on a Chabad synagogue, AFP reports.

The terror attack took place shortly after 11:20 am, as hundreds of worshippers were gathered to celebrate the last day of Passover, a biblically derived Jewish holiday.

The suspect is a 19-year-old student at the California State University San Marcos. «This individual was with an AR-type assault weapon and opened fire on the people inside the synagogue», said San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore said.

The authorities managed to identify the suspect who is in custody. He, however, published an open letter online in which he said that he was inspired by the Christchurch attacks in New Zealand, where 50 Muslim worshippers were killed, the Guardian said.

He also admitted in the same letter that he sat fire to a mosque following the terrorist attacks in New Zealand.

Like the latter, the suspect arrested in San Diego left supremacist writings, accusing Jews in particular of «meticulously planning the genocide of the European race». President Donald Trump condemned «anti-Semitism» and «hatred» following this act.
