The Cuban ambassador to Morocco, based in Paris, visited Rabat on Friday, a Spanish-language news outlet reported. In Morocco, he met with Education Minister Said Amzazi. This meeting was an opportunity to let the Minister know about «Universidad 2020», an event that will be hosted by La Havana.

Elio Rodríguez then visited the headquarters of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, where he held talks with Minister Rachid Talbi Alami, focusing on strengthening cooperation between the two parties in the sports field.

The ambassador also held a meeting with Bouchra Boudchiche, director of the Americas Division at the Foreign Affairs ministry. At the end of his visit, Rodríguez was received by the mayor of Rabat, Mohamed Seddiki (PJD).

For the record, in August 2018, the Cuban ambassador made his first trip to the Kingdom. He had handed over a copy of his credentials, as ambassador plenipotentiary and extraordinary of his country, to Morocco with his residence in Paris. He had also met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

On April 21, 2017, Morocco and Cuba decided to normalize diplomatic relations, after a 37-years break up.
