The organizing committee for the African Cup of Nations (Afcon), to be hosted in Egypt this summer, created an online platform for fans to purchase their tickets.
When trying to buy a ticket, the website asks you to select the country where you live. Surprisingly, the list of countries includes the «Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic» (SADR), which is not a member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
This mistake may further affect relations between Morocco and Egypt, which currently chairs the African Union. In April, and while hosting the second meeting of the African Union (AU) Specialized Technical Committee (STC-TTIIET) on Transport, Transcontinental and Interregional Infrastructure, Energy and Tourism, Egypt invited a Polisario representative.
For the record, the 32nd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) will be held in Egypt from June the 21st to July 19th. Twenty-four teams will participate in the tournament for the first time.
