Moroccan-Norwegian dancer Mona Berntsen who wore a Palestinian flag while dancing during Madonna’s Eurovision performance said that she was interrogated for more than an hour by the airport security in Israel, Metro reports.

In a message she published on her Instagram and deleted later, the 29-year-old dancer said that leaving Israel after the Eurovision performance was so «intense», recalling that she was questioned at the airport.

«Thank you Madonna for having me as part of your statement, and for having me carry the Palestinian flag in front of the hundreds and millions of viewers», said Berntsen, adding that «the hours following yesterday’s show have been intense, but never had I imagined feeling monitored in the way I was».

«Airport check-in passing my passport around, and then being held for interrogation for more than 1.5 hours!», she said.

«Having to tell my whole life story, my reasons for having travelled to Arabic countries throughout my life, my religious relations, my family matters, showing my detailed daily schedules for my stay, and having to explain exactly what I did and where I went last time, I was in Jerusalem three years ago».

The dance believes that she was interrogated at the airport because of carrying the Palestinian flag «as part of a performance making a statement about a current conflict, to promote peace, unity and freedom».

Mona was not the only dancer accompanying Madonna to raise to the Palestinian flag during the Eurovision performance.
