A 16-year-old south Dublin boy was charged, Tuesday, with the murder of Moroccan teenager Azzam Raguragui, stabbed to death earlier this month in a park in Dundrum, Ireland.
The accused appeared before the judge at Dublin Children’s Court. He was arrested on the same day at 11.23 am and was charged at 12.14pm, Irish Times reported.
«He made no reply to the charge after caution and was given a true copy of the charge sheet in the presence of his father», detective John White told the same source.
The 16-year-old boy will have to apply for bail, the same newspaper explained, adding that he will appear at the Children’s Court for the second time on June 5th.
For the record, Raguragui was killed on May 10 while he was on his way to pray at a mosque. The young man was at the Finsbury Park with a group of Muslim teenagers when a boy from another group tried to steal his bike. Trying to resist the same kid, Raguragui was fatally stabbed and sent to the hospital, where he drew his last breath.
On May 19, about 600 people attended a memorial service held to honor Azzam Raguragui. The parents of the teenager Abderrahmane Raguaragui and Hajiba Elouaddaf spoke during the service, describing him as a «very compliant son to his father and mother» who had always «delivered his promises».
