Dutch far-right politician Geert Wilders said, Friday, that Twitter has temporarily blocked his account for comments he made about a political rival, citing Islam, Daily Mail reports.

The anti-Islam campaigner’s Twitter account got blocked after he tweeted, calling the members of Dutch center-left party Democrats 66 «suckers … who import ever more Islam and then weep crocodile tears over the consequences such as honor killings».

Speaking to the British newspaper, a spokesman for Wilders’ Freedom Party said that the ban is expected to expire in about eight hours.

Rejecting the social platform’s decision Wilders said in a statement that «Twitter often tolerates death threats against [him], but not a factual tweet by [him] about a colleague. Madness!».

Wilders’ remarks about Islam and Muslims are not new. The politician is appealing a court conviction for inciting discrimination. In 2014, Wilders told the crowds that «the Hague should be a city with fewer problems, if possible, fewer Moroccans».

He then asked his followers whether they want more or fewer Moroccans in the city and they chanted repeating «fewer, fewer, fewer». Wilders responded saying : «We will take care of that».

Last year, Wilders said that he wants to launch a prophet Mohammed cartoon contest. He then later decided to cancel the competition after receiving death threats.
