Confederation of African Football president Ahmad Ahmad was arrested Thursday, June 6, in Paris, FIFA confirmed. Ahmad was detained for questioning by the French authorities for breaching a contract with athletic footwear company Puma, French magazine Jeune Afrique said.

French newspaper Le Monde reported that FIFA «took note of the alleged events regarding Mr. Ahmad, who is being questioned by the French authorities» for «allegations related to his position as head of CAF».

The same source recalled that in May, it was sought by the CAF Secretary General, Amr Fahmy. The latter «had been sacked after he turned whistleblower and sent FIFA’s ethics committee a document listing allegations of financial irregularities and sexual harassment», the Guardian said.
