French-Moroccan activist Latifa Ibn Ziaten wakes up to threats tagged on her house’s wall

French-Moroccan activist Latifa Ibn Ziaten woke up on Monday, June 10, to a number of threats tagged on her house’s walls in Rouen. «Long live Merah», «You will soon be dead, Jew», and «We will come and get you», were tagged on her house’s entrance.

The mother of Imad Ibn Ziaten, a sergeant who was murdered by Mohamed Merah March 11, 2012, tweeted on the same day, explaining that the threats were reported to the police. She hoped that the ones behind these «hateful acts» will be punished soon.

«My client does not feel safe, she is shocked and upset», lawyer Samia Maktouf told French daily Le Figaro, adding that a complaint was filed by Ibn Ziaten.

The lawyer called on the French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner to protect Ibn Ziaten’s house. Reacting to her demand on Twitter, the minister said that she had spoken with Latifa Ibn Ziaten who was supported by several French figures.
