On Monday evening, and after Egyptian authorities announced that the country’s former President died of a stroke in a courtroom cage, Prince Moulay Hicham sent his sincere condolences to the family of Mohamed Morsi.
«Saddened» by the news, the cousin of King Mohammed VI said that «President Morsi died because of systematic neglect in prison». «He has been accused of treason, but the real traitors are those who usurped the will and sovereignty of Egyptian people and killed hundreds of them», he wrote on his Facebook page.
«Yes, President Morsi made political mistakes, but he remains a sign of democracy and legitimacy. Sooner or later, this same legitimacy will be imposed again in Egypt».
To Moulay Hicham, «the case of Morsi is a tragedy of all Egyptians who seek democracy and are met with torture, disappearance, detention and exile».
