Morocco national football team’s coach Hervé Renard complained about the absence of any water breaks during the game against Namibia (1-0), AFP reported.

Renard said that he was «unhappy» about the lack of water breaks, especially as the Africa Cup of Nations’ organizers were expected to adopt an «extreme heat policy» in Egypt.

«Why were the players not allowed to drink during the first half and the second half ? How is it possible ?» Renard wondered after Sunday’s game which was marked by Itamunua Keimuine’s won goal.

«I was very surprised. Strange. If you play football you know you need to drink something, especially 20 to 25 minutes», Renard said.

«So please the organizers they need to think about it, think about the players. The players are making the show. It's not us in the stands, it's not us on the bench, it's the players that are making the show».

For the record, the Atlas Lions played against Namibia’s Brave Warriors on Sunday at Al Salam Stadium in Cairo. The opening match in Group D started at around 4.30pm, as temperature was at around 37 Celsius.
