British low-cost airline EasyJet has launched a new route, linking Northern Ireland’s Belfast International Airport to Marrakech.

According to online newspaper Belfast Telegraph, the new route will have two flights a week, mainly on Wednesdays and Saturdays during the winter and until the end of March.

«We are very pleased to strengthen our network at Belfast International Airport with this new winter service to Marrakech», Neil Slaven, easyJet's UK country director, told the Belfast Telegraph.

«It's a new and refreshing addition to our portfolio and we're confident it will prove popular with our customers in Northern Ireland searching for some winter sun», he added.

Meanwhile, Uel Hoey, business development director at Belfast International Airport, said that «Morocco has long been popular for local holidaymakers, particularly with its strong appeal during the winter months».

«Now easyJet will make access to this exciting destination infinitely easier, with the launch of these new direct Marrakesh flights from Belfast», he added.

For the record, EasyJet operates to Marrakech from different airports but it is the first time that it links the capital city of Northern Ireland to the Moroccan city from Belfast International Airport.
