Serbian manager Zoran Manojlovic has been appointed as a head coach of Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca (WAC), replacing the team’s former manager Faouzi Benzarti, BBC Sport said on Friday.
Manojlovic will be managing the Casablanca red squad for two seasons after Benzarti left for Tunisian club Etoile du Sahel.
The Serbian coach had his first meeting with Wydad players last Wednesday, when they held a training session at the Benjaloun Stadium in Casablanca.
«I have seen the videos of Wydad's fans, and I think they are one of the best supporters in the world. I will work hard to make them happy», Manojlovic said.
«I am happy to engage with Wydad Casablanca for the next two seasons. Negotiations with President Said Naciri only lasted five minutes. He promised me the best conditions of work and asked me to do everything to win titles».
According to BBC Sport, Manojlovic was recommended by Wydad’s former coach John Toshack, who is currently the club’s sporting director.
The Serbian manager has previously managed Angola’s Primeiro de Agosto and helped the team reach the African Champions League semi-final, the same source concluded.
