Muhammad, the most popular name in Israel in 2018

Muhammad is officially the most popular name given to boys in Israel in 2018, according to figures released by the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics earlier this week.

According to the list shared by Times of Israel, data show that 2,646 boys were named after Prophet Muhammad in 2018, while 1,447 have the name of David when it comes to Jews.

The second most popular name for Jewish boys is Ariel (1,323), followed by Noam. As for girls, Miriam tops the list of the most popular female names among Muslims. The most popular name of girls among Jews is Tamar.
