The carabinieri of Rivergaro (Emilia-Romagna region) in Italy, announced yesterday the dismantling of three criminal networks involved in drug trafficking in the city and in the province.
According to Italian media outlet Il Piacenza, pre-trial detention orders were issued by the investigating judge against several members of these networks, including Egyptians, Moroccans, Italians and Gambian refugees.
The operation, called «Giardini», was launched following an eight-month long investigation. Egyptians and Moroccans were among the first group to move drugs: hashish but also marijuana, cocaine and heroin. The products were then sold on a wholesale and retail-basis to both groups. Minors were also used for transportation purposes.
The media does not, however, specify the number of Moroccans arrested in connection with this operation.
