Spanish lawyer Cristina Martinez is persona non grata in Morocco. On Sunday, she landed at the Casablanca airport, where she was told to go back to where she came from, Equipe Media wrote on its Facebook page. This was confirmed by El Periodico as well as other Spanish news outlets.
Martinez was planning to join Laayoune to attend the trial of the nine young people involved in the riots that took place on July 19th in the city following the victory of the Algerian football team at the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).
According to Equipe Media, Morocco has banned 32 foreign nationals from entering the Sahara since the start of the year.
The Spanish lawyer has already been expelled by the Moroccan authorities on August 6th.
