The Royal Moroccan Navy rescued 62 sub-Saharan migrants off the Alboran Sea. They were carried by a ship that was about to sink.
According to sources quoted by the Spanish news agency EFE on Tuesday, the ship was off the beach of Sidi Abed in the city of Al Hoceima, in northeastern Morocco. It was filled with water and its engine broke down.
Those rescued, including three women, come from Nigeria, Guinea, Gambia and Cameroon. They were in «bad health» when they were rescued, the same source added.
The migrants were taken to the port of Al Hoceima and entrusted to the Royal Gendarmerie Imzouren, south of the city, before the start of the process of transferring them to southern cities in the country.
