Morocco is ranked 92nd by the 2019 World Economic Freedom survey, published by Canadian public policy think tank the Fraser Institute. The Economic freedom ranking includes 162 countries and is based on 45 sub-indexes.
According to data provided by the report, the Kingdom is ranked 96th for the size of its government, 62nd in the legal system and property rights, 90th in the freedom to trade internationally, 120th in terms of sound money and 68th when it comes to the regulation subindex.
With these scores, Morocco ranks first in the Maghreb, followed by Tunisia (122nd), Mauritania (128th), Algeria (159th) and Libya (161st). In the Arab World, the Kingdom is ranked 7th, ahead of Jordan (43rd), Bahrain (50th), the United Arab Emirates (61st), Qatar (69th), Lebanon (75th) and Oman (89th).
The World Economic Freedom ranking was topped by Hong Kong and Singapore, followed by New Zealand, Switzerland and the United States, while Angola, Algeria, Sudan Libya and Venezuela respectively are at the bottom of the list.
