Last week, Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita condemned Iranian intervention in Arabs' internal affairs. His words were well received by some of the Gulf Cooperation Council states.

Some of them have even been quick to respond. In Bahrain, Moroccan ambassador Mustapha Benkhiyi was received, Sunday 29 September, after presenting his credentials to King Hamad, by Crown Prince of Bahrain Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

During their meeting, the Bahraini Crown Prince stressed «the importance of the completion of what has been achieved in order to strengthen bilateral relations, ensure the development and prosperity of both countries and meet the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples», MAP reports.

For the record, in March 2009 Morocco cut diplomatic ties with Iran to show support for Bahrain. But the country distanced itself a bit from Rabat after Morocco voiced support for Qatar.

Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi's support

The 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly was also an opportunity for the Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates to welcome Morocco's efforts calling for a political solution for the Western Sahara issue.

Prince Abdallah Ben Zayed said that «multilateralism» has shown its limits in conflict resolution. A position that meets the one defended by the head of Moroccan diplomacy. Interviewed by Sky News Arabia, the diplomat called for the creation of a new compromise between «bilateralism and multilateralism».

For the record, the Moroccan Foreign Minister and his Emirati counterpart met in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

This announced normalization of relations between the Kingdom and its former «allies» at the Gulf Cooperation Council has also covered Saudi Arabia. Yesterday evening, in statements to «60 minutes», the flagship program of the American channel CBS, Mohamed Ben Salmane endorsed the calls of Nasser Bourita to the international community to adopt more firmness regarding the «Iranian threats».
