Two criminal networks, that smuggle hashish and cocaine into Italy, have been dismantled, local online newspaper Rai News reports. The dismantling of these two organizations, operating independently, resulted in the arrest of around 20 people throughout Italy.
The cocaine came from Argentina, through Europe, while the hashish came from Morocco, the same source said. A total of 1,000 kg of hashish would have been smuggled into the Palermo area, including the 700 kilograms seized by the Italian police.
The hashish would have been stored in warehouses in northern Italy until it was smuggled by members of the network into Palermo. The Italian authorities have also seized several cannabis crops in the Palermo region.
