Morocco listed among Lonely Planet’s top destinations for 2020

Travel guidebook publisher Lonely Planet released, Tuesday, its annual list of the 10 top countries to visit in 2020. Surprisingly, Morocco is part of this list, which includes locations that were chosen for their «topicality, unique experiences and wow factor», Al Jazeera reports.

Morocco is ranked ninth in Lonely Planet’s top destinations ranking for 2020. According to the same source, was selected to be part of this list for its «time-honored attractions and improved infrastructure, including Africa's first high-speed train».

«Ancient medinas are getting a makeover in Fez, Essaouira, Meknes, Tetouan and Marrakesh, which will be crowned Africa’s first Capital of Culture in 2020 in celebration of its rich heritage», Lonely Planet said.

The Kingdom is the only Arab and North African country to make it to Lonely Planet’s list, which was topped by Bhutan, England and Aruba.
