The Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM) announced, Thursday, that its 18th edition will pay homage to American actor and filmmaker Robert Redford, organizers said in a communiqué sent to Yabiladi.
Redford confirmed his presence at the festival to be held from November 29 to December 7, 2019. «It is a great honor to be invited to Marrakech, to meet creators and artists who will share with each other their unique voices and points of view», Redford said.
«Throughout his extraordinary career, Robert Redford has marked a profound influence on contemporary cinema, becoming one its leading figures», the festival organizers wrote. In their statement, they stated that Redford is a «visionary entrepreneur, exceptional creator and artist».
Indeed, the American actor is the founder of the Sundance Film Festival, the largest independent film festival in the United States. The movie director received several awards throughout his career, including an honorary Oscar at the 74th Academy Awards.
