Seven people were arrested, Friday, by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) in anti-terror operation conducted in the suburbs of Casablanca, Chefchaouen and Ouazzane.
According to state-owned channel 2M, two of these suspects were arrested in Chafchaouen, as part of an operation led earlier this morning at the Lalla Zahra neighborhood, while four others were arrested in Douar Benaabid and Douar Karia, in Dar Bouazza.
According to the same source, two of the arrestees were naturalized, adding that one of them is only 20 years old.
Meanwhile, a communiqué released by the Interior Ministry reveals that the seventh suspect was arrested in Ouazzane. It also reported that BCIJ seized three automatic pistols, knives and chemicals during the operation.
According to the same source, the arrestees were planning to carry out as soon as possible a series of terrorist attacks with the help of foreign individuals.
The same communiqué indicates that the head of the terrorist cell, with the help of an «ISIS» fighter, was planning to create a base in the mountains near Ouazzane.
The members of this cell also recorded a video in which they «pledged allegiance to Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, and promised to carry out terrorist operations in the Kingdom».
